Our story

From Sri Lankan soil, straight to your global doorstep.

Guruge Cinnamon is a Sri Lankan family business from Hikkaduwa. We grow, harvest, and grade true Ceylon cinnamon the way our grandparents did — by hand, without shortcuts — and ship it to kitchens and warehouses around the world.

01 · The harvest

Cut at first light.

Mature stems are selected and cut by hand in the cool morning hours, when the bark lifts cleanly from the wood. Nothing is machine-stripped; every branch is judged by eye and by three generations of experience.

02 · The craft

Peeled and rolled by hand.

Within hours of harvest the outer bark is scraped away and the fragrant inner bark is peeled in paper-thin layers, rolled into the layered quills Sri Lanka is famous for, and left to dry slowly in the shade.

03 · The grade

Sorted quill by quill.

Dried quills are graded by thickness and colour — Alba, C5, C4 — then cut, bundled, and checked again. Powder is milled fresh from selected quills, never from floor sweepings.

04 · The journey

Farm to buyer, documented.

Every batch leaves Hikkaduwa with its paperwork: origin, grade, and processing records. Whether it is a single gift box or a full container, you know exactly where your cinnamon grew.

Cinnamon is not a commodity to us. It is the work of our family's hands, three generations deep.
